Overview

The Office of International Relations was one of the offices which were established after months after Aksum University was launched in 2006. After a time the office was readjusted into Corporate Communication and Marketing Center. The need for broadening the internationalisation horizons of Aksum University brought the center in to its current status, which is Directorate of Corporate Communication and International Relations.

The directorate has four main core tasks namely;

  • Internal communication
  • Internationalisation and international relations
  • Website and social media management
  • Archival services to the university

According to Aksum University’s Legislation (Article 57), the Corporate Communication International Relations Directorate shall have the duties and responsibilities to:

  • Ensures that institutional culture is developed and maintained in line with the mission of the university;
  • Develop strategic alliance with Universities from abroad and international associations.
  • Plan, develop and implement public relation strategies;
  • Liaise with colleagues, external actors and the public at large;
  • Prepare and distribute press releases to targeted media;
  • Prepare and supervise the production of publicity brochures, handouts, leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes;
  • Organize events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days and press tours;
  • Maintain and update information on the University’s website;
  • Manage and update information and engage with users on social media;
  • Foster community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives;
  • Ensure the various academic programmes, products and services of the University are effectively marketed;
  • Ensure that museums containing models/collections of national (or international or institutional) historical, natural, and cultural values are established and administered;
  • Provide information on grants and opportunities to the academic and research communities of the University;
  • Maintain profile of programmes, professionals, research activities of the University for users;
  • Promote, protect and enhance the University’s reputation and profile;
  • Raise the profile and increase public understanding of the University’s research activities together with its economic, social and cultural impact;
  • Provide timely news and information about key initiatives and activities of the University.

To implement interactive communication and comprehensive internationalization strategies so as to create mutual understanding and cooperation among Aksum University Community, the public as well as national and international partners
